ESMARConf2023: Workshop 7 - Introduction to GitHub

In this introductory workshop you will learn how to create a new project in git using RStudio as well as how to clone and develop existing projects from GitHub in RStudio. We will cover basic terms and features of Git so that you can build git into your own workflows. If you haven’t used Git before, or want a refresher, this workshop will be ideal to help you to be a big part of the #ESMAR Community!

Learning objectives:
- Define basic git terminology
- Use RStudio to create a new git repository and store it on github
- Clone an existing project onto your device and open it on RStudio
- Make changes to a git project and store them on GitHub
- To fork an existing repository and contribute changes to an existing GitHub Project

Target audience:
People with no, or limited experience of using Git and GitHub who would like to use git to host their own project or contribute to existing projects.

Prerequisites:
RStudio, Git, a GitHub Account.
